About The Position

The Janitorial Floor Technician maintains and restores airport floors using specialized equipment while ensuring safety and minimal disruption. The Janitorial Floor Technician specializes in the care and maintenance of flooring within the airport facilities. This role involves using various techniques and equipment to clean, wax, polish, and restore different types of flooring, including carpet, tile, and hardwood. You must follow specific cleaning protocols and safety guidelines, ensuring the appearance and longevity of the flooring while minimizing disruption to airport operations. Additionally, you are responsible for maintaining their equipment, managing cleaning supplies, and promptly addressing any spills or floor-related hazards.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Previous experience in floor care and maintenance, preferably in a commercial or public setting
  • Knowledge of different flooring materials and appropriate cleaning techniques
  • Proficiency in using floor care equipment such as buffers, polishers, and extractors
  • Physical ability to perform labor-intensive tasks and work with various chemicals
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including the use of electronic devices including IPads/Tablets, Computers, and Mobile Devices
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, both in-person and through electronic means
  • Pass a background check and drug screen
  • Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain a variety of floor cleaning equipment, including buffers, scrubbers, and vacuums
  • Perform thorough floor cleaning, waxing, buffing, and polishing across various airport areas
  • Apply sealants and other protective coatings to floors as needed
  • Conduct regular inspections of flooring surfaces for maintenance needs
  • Remove stains, spills, and grime from floors using appropriate cleaning solutions and equipment
  • Follow all safety protocols for handling cleaning chemicals and operating machinery
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in storage and equipment areas
  • Collaborate with janitorial staff to ensure comprehensive floor care throughout the airport facilities
  • Respond promptly to floor cleaning emergencies or special requests
  • Keep accurate records of floor maintenance activities and inventory of supplies
  • Assist in training new staff on floor care techniques and equipment use
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in floor maintenance
  • Participate in the setup and cleanup for airport events or functions
  • Coordinate with the maintenance department for floor repairs and installations
  • Ensure adherence to environmental regulations in the disposal of cleaning waste

  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by management
