Java Developer, Mid The Opportunity: As a software sustainment engineer, you play a pivotal role in an application’s functional life. From troubleshooting to fixing bugs, you use your operations and maintenance skills to ensure that things run smoothly. As a software sustainment engineer at Booz Allen, you’ll have an operational impact from day one. Supporting a team of professionals, you’ll maintain applications and keep systems working. You’ll use programming and scripting languages as you continuously enhance and maintain the applications, troubleshoot any issues that arise operationally, and upgrade the systems to meet security requirements. Most importantly, you’ll strengthen your skills as you advise our clients on the best ways to improve and modernize the existing systems. Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience developing enterprise applications using Java Spring Boot or Spring Web Flow
  • Experience building and deploying applications on Oracle WebLogic Server
  • Experience with Maven for build and dependency management
  • Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
  • Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments
  • Knowledge of Linux or Unix fundamentals such as file systems, permissions, basic shell commands, or application deployments
  • Ability to troubleshoot application and deployment issues
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with supporting VA systems or other federal IT programs
  • Experience implementing secure coding practices and addressing application security findings
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks
  • Experience developing applications using Eclipse IDE
  • Experience in working with Jira for Agile project tracking
  • Experience in supporting production environments and performing root cause analysis
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and CI/CD best practices
  • Knowledge of federal security and compliance requirements
  • Possession of strong problem-solving skills
