About The Position

The Café Food Service Worker provides prompt, efficient and gracious service to all Cafe guests, including preparing food, beverages and snacks as ordered and giving correct change for cash transactions.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Ability to learn proper food handling procedures
  • Ability to learn and adhere to Kashrut Kosher food practices
  • Ability to handle cash and count/make change
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds
  • Good attendance is an absolute
  • Must present an appropriate image including friendly attitude, good personal hygiene and professional appearance, and desire to serve the public
  • Requires ability to effectively communicate JCC mission to staff, members. vendors and volunteers
  • Requires high-level skills in customer service/member care
  • Embrace and model the JCC Internal Service Standards of Respect, Gratitude, Communication, The Golden Rule, and Ownership/Accountability
  • Exemplifies personal qualities of integrity, credibility and unwavering commitment to the JCC’s mission
  • Incumbents must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for extended periods of time; be able to lift 50 pounds and tolerate hot and humid working conditions; be able to maintain professional attitude even during busy times of high stress; must be able to work evenings and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Food and/or customer service experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Correctly open and or close the Cafe according to specified procedures
  • Follow proper food preparation and safe food handling procedures
  • Maintain accurate inventory of food, beverages, and supplies to accommodate business needs
  • Follow all specified procedures to correctly handle all cash and credit card transactions and to process daily deposit report at each closing shift
  • Monitor and execute all food and beverage orders and ensure the quality and appearance of the presentation
  • Provide quality service to our guests
  • Properly and safely use all machinery and equipment
  • Maintain an orderly work area and a sanitary food production area
  • Maintain cleanliness of indoor & outdoor seating area (wiping down tables/benches, removing trash, sweeping, etc.)
  • Observe Kashrut/Kosher practices of kitchen
  • Comply with all Covid protocols
  • Other Duties as assigned
