About The Position

As a Job Developer, you will play a critical role in connecting individuals with developmental and physical disabilities to meaningful employment opportunities within the community. This position focuses on building strong partnerships with local businesses, identifying job opportunities, and ensuring successful job placements aligned with each participant’s Individual Employment Plan. You will serve as both an advocate for participants and a representative of AbilityFirst within the business community.

Requirements

  • A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1-2 years of experience providing one-on-one and group coaching to individuals with disabilities in employment, educational, and volunteer settings is required.
  • 1-2 years of experience developing Individual Employment Plans is required.
  • Knowledge of vocational habilitation methods and job development strategies for adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities is required.
  • Ability to use computers including word-processing, data entry, and spreadsheet utilization is required.
  • Must have reliable transportation to commute to and from participant’s job sites is required.
  • Must have a flexible schedule in order to accommodate participant’s schedule is required.
  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities and sexual orientations in a multicultural environment is required.
  • Successful completion of background (LiveScan) check.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in any related field or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  • Strong office management skills are preferred.
  • Strong communication skills are preferred.
  • Ability to work nights/weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in developing and implementing Individual Employment Plans (IEPs), identifying participants’ strengths, skills, and employment goals.
  • Market and promote AbilityFirst employment services to local businesses and community partners.
  • Attend job fairs, business forums, and networking events to cultivate employer relationships.
  • Meet with employers to assess workforce needs and identify placement opportunities for participants.
  • Conduct labor market research to identify trends and potential job openings.
  • Support participants in transitioning into employment and provide follow-up support to ensure job retention and satisfaction.
  • Maintain consistent communication with employers to resolve concerns and encourage future hiring opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain accurate documentation, case records, and reports in compliance with agency policies and state regulations.
  • Provide transportation and/or mobility training using public transportation, agency vehicles, or personal vehicles as required.
  • Participate in professional development activities, seminars, and training to enhance job development skills.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the mission of the program and organization.
