A Joint Use Design Engineer is responsible for designing, coordinating, and managing the integration of infrastructure shared between different utility companies, such as telecommunications, electrical, and cable providers. This role involves assessing existing utility infrastructure and ensuring that new installations, modifications, or upgrades comply with safety, regulatory, and technical requirements while maintaining the integrity of all systems involved. Key Responsibilities: Design and Planning: Design joint use infrastructure, including shared utility poles, conduits, and other installations. Develop and create detailed engineering plans for integrating telecommunication, electrical, and other utility systems in shared spaces. Coordinate with different utility providers to ensure designs meet the technical and regulatory requirements of all parties involved. Project Coordination: Collaborate with various departments, external contractors, and utility companies to ensure timely and efficient project execution. Manage and track progress of joint use projects from concept to implementation. Ensure that projects are completed within scope, budget, and timeline. Regulatory Compliance and Permitting: Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards. Stay up-to-date on relevant safety standards and codes for joint use infrastructure. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed design documents, including blueprints, technical specifications, and project timelines. Maintain accurate records of design plans, permits, inspections, and approvals. Prepare reports on the progress of joint use projects and address any issues that arise during the process. Risk Management and Problem-Solving: Identify potential risks and challenges in the joint use infrastructure design and propose mitigation strategies. Troubleshoot issues and propose solutions to ensure smooth project execution.
