About The Position

Repairs and maintains electrical/electronic assemblies, components, networks, and systems required to operate and maintain the data networks, supervisory & control systems, train control systems, personal computers, and associated systems and equipment throughout the rail system and MARTA facilities. Skilled in the use of tools and test equipment required in troubleshooting and maintaining electronic/electrical systems and equipment.

Requirements

  • Technician diploma in a formalized electrical/electronic training program.
  • Two & one half (2-1/2) years of electronic technician training and three (3) years of experience as an Electronic Technician at the Journeyman level.
  • Three years’ experience repairing mini and personal computer systems.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above may be substituted.
  • Must have the ability to operate various types of test equipment such as network analyzers, voltmeter, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Must possess the ability to operate various network, server and equipment software diagnostic packages and system blow-down techniques.
  • Familiarity with and proficiency in using the Microsoft Suite and programs including Word, Outlook Mail, Exchange Mail, and Excel.
  • External new hires will complete six months at the apprentice level; demonstrated ability to perform the Journeyman work will qualify the new hire for assignment to Journeyman level.
  • Must pass aptitude test given by MARTA personnel.
  • A+ Certification or the capability to obtain certification within twelve months.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have no DUI's in previous five years and no more than three moving violations in the previous two years.
  • Participation in MARTA's Drug & Alcohol Program is a condition of employment. Failure to adhere to MARTA's Drug & Alcohol Program will result in termination.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance required to maintain safe and reliable life-safety and operation critical equipment.
  • Maintains supervisory & control, train control and personal computer equipment and accessories.
  • Ensures that all supervisory & control, train control and personal computer equipment is operable and on line.
  • Prepares all required maintenance reports, work orders, and labor time entry in accordance with Facilities Maintenance departmental protocol and Communications, Computer & Faregate Branch requirements.
  • Responds to complaints from customers (internal and external) within two days. Ensures response to complaints meets customer's expectations in terms of remedy and time.
  • Reports any discrepancies to immediate supervisor or appropriate department. Immediately notifies supervisory personnel of any emergencies or safety related issues.
  • Attends regularly scheduled safety meetings and participates in MARTA's safety officer rotation program.
  • Participates on various continuous improvement teams, Quality Council and/or Communications Task Force in Facilities Maintenance in support of organizational/Office goals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
