SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY The Junior Quality Engineer is responsible for executing a wide range of product testing and analysis procedures to ensure compliance with internal specifications and industry standards. Operating within a structured lab environment, this role involves performing standardized tests, documenting results, identifying defects, and supporting root cause analysis. The Junior Quality Engineer plays a key role in maintaining accurate quality records, preparing performance reports, and communicating findings to production and management teams. Additionally, the Junior Quality Engineer supports continuous improvement initiatives, ensures proper calibration of lab tools, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to uphold quality system requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, assembly schematics, and heat maps.
  • Skilled in performing data analysis from lab testing.
  • Capable of using lab measurement tools, eg, Faro Arm, Push/Pull Gages, Micrometers, height gages, etc.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in CAD software, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Ability to work any shift schedule according to business needs.
  • Ability to work with the lab equipment for measurements.
  • Willingness to work overtime and travel with little notice.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred five years' experience as a quality technician/ auditor or in a related industry, preferably in manufacturing or automotive sectors.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with advanced lab equipment and automation technologies.
  • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Demonstrated ability to research and recommend new products and processes.
  • Ability to initiate and implement continuous improvement processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, coordinate, and integrate internal data.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with customers and peers.
  • Advanced organizational skills.
  • Recommended ASQ Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory tests, including Efforts, Gap, Scan, H-Point, and BSR.
  • Creation of reports and data tracking using Microsoft PowerPoint or Excel.
  • Work with the product engineering team on actions to address lab failure and document closure; escalate if required
  • Maintain accurate records of test results and supporting documentation.
  • Identify and document product defects; recommend corrective actions.
  • Analysis of parts and can work with the team and customer on root cause analysis.
  • Ensure products meet industry and customer-specific quality standards.
  • Compile and present quality performance data and KPIs to management and other parties.
  • Monitor and escalate tool calibration non-conformances.
  • Follow lab work instructions and established testing protocols.
  • Provide timely feedback to area leaders and supervisors.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and inspectors (e.g., IATF/ISO, OSHA, Magna).
  • Ensure compliance with Quality, Environmental, Safety & Health, and Material Management System requirements.
  • Maintain lab cleanliness and adhere to housekeeping standards.
  • Stay current with industry regulations and standards.
  • Support continuous improvement projects and analysis activities.
  • Notify Quality supervisors of critical or trending defects.
  • Scan supplier components and review results for quality assurance.
  • Perform product audits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
