Requirements

  • One year demonstrated ED diagnostic and procedural coding experience preferably in a computerized/electronic environment in an academic medical center
  • Provide evidence of successfully completed coding course in ICD9CM, CPT4, HCPCS, E&M and applicable grouper coding schemes
  • One year of related ED or facility level E&M coding experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Pass skills assessment consisting of a representative sample of ED services at NYPH for all promotion/hires
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with clinical information systems for accessing health information in an electronic environment
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • CPC, CCS, CCA, RHIA or RHIT certifications
