About The Position

The Junior Counselor supports the summer camp program by assisting lead counselors in supervising and engaging campers. This role focuses on creating a safe, fun, and inclusive environment while helping implement activities, maintain order, and model positive behavior for campers.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children preferred but not required.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and assist in maintaining a structured environment.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Enthusiastic, patient, and caring demeanor with a genuine interest in working with children.
• Ability to follow directions and take initiative when assisting lead counselors.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead counselors in supervising children during all indoor and outdoor activities to ensure safety and well-being.
• Engage with campers, providing support, encouragement, and guidance to foster a positive camp experience.
• Help implement daily lesson plans, games, and activities under the direction of senior staff.
• Monitor behavior and report any significant concerns or incidents to the lead counselor or program coordinator.
• Support the setup, cleanup, and organization of activity areas and classrooms to maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating respect, responsibility, and teamwork.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and camp events as required.
• Perform any other duties as required by the program Coordinator.
