About The Position

The Junior Data Scientist will work in a big data environment to help us build and deliver secure AI-enabled solutions. In this role you will develop and maintain Python and SQL solutions (e.g., using Jupyter/Notebook, Streamlit, and Snowflake), support data exploration and predictive modeling, and help us implement generative AI capabilities.

Requirements

  • US citizen or Authorized to Work and lived in the US for 3 of the last 5 years.
  • Must be able to obtain a U.S. Federal government client badge and pass a government Public Trust.
  • Requires a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or a Master’s degree with at least two (2) years of experience. Four (4) years of specialized experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree. Advanced certifications can be used to substitute for experience.
  • Experience with Python and SQL
  • Experience with Python AI/ML libraries
  • Experience with common data science toolkits, such as pandas, NumPy etc.
  • Experience with code repository tools like GitHub is preferred
  • Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with analytics, application, and platform teams in an Agile environment

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to Generative AI, NLP, and LLM is preferred
  • Prior experience with Center for Medicare Medicaid Services or other government agencies is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and maintenance of Python solutions in Jupyter/Notebook and Streamlit, using Snowflake for data storage and querying under guidance from senior team members.
  • Assist with designing, prototyping, and implementing AI-enabled capabilities (e.g., chatbots, code-assist/code-generation workflows) to meet program needs.
  • Help build and maintain evaluation datasets and metrics (e.g., accuracy, groundedness, hallucination checks) and contribute to model testing and quality validation.
  • Create simple data visualizations, dashboards, and analysis outputs to communicate findings and support decision-making.
  • Follow responsible AI practices throughout development and deployment, including transparency, fairness, robustness, explainability, and basic solution observability, escalating risks/issues as needed.
  • Stay current on emerging AI/ML and assistant technologies; share relevant updates, demos, or findings with the team.
  • Collaborate with an agile team of data scientists by completing assigned tasks, participating in ceremonies, documenting work, and iterating on analytics products.
