Requirements

  • Active IRS MBI Clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field. An Associate degree plus 2 additional years of hands-on experience may substitute for a Bachelor’s degree.
  • CompTIA Security+ CE (or equivalent) required .
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant professional experience in information security, cyber risk management, network defense, or IT system administration with a security focus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing and maintaining security controls in compliance with FISMA, FedRAMP, IRS IRM 10.8, and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) SP 800-53 Moderate baselines.
  • Support Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities by collecting control implementation evidence, updating documentation, and assisting with SSP and POA&M maintenance.
  • Conduct routine vulnerability scans and configuration compliance checks under supervision, and track remediation activities in accordance with NIST SP 800-40 and SP 800-70.
  • Monitor system and security logs to identify anomalies or suspicious activity and escalate findings to senior analysts.
  • Assist in validating encryption configurations for data-at-rest and data-in-transit to ensure compliance with FIPS 140-2/140-3 requirements.
  • Support identity and access management efforts, including verification of least-privilege access, role-based permissions, and MFA enforcement.
  • Help maintain audit-ready documentation, including artifact repositories, compliance reports, and assessment evidence.
  • Provide support during security assessments, audits, incident response activities, and continuous monitoring efforts, including remediation tracking for vulnerabilities identified by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
