About The Position

The Junior Multimedia Technology Specialist assists with multimedia and audio-visual support for special events, concerts, performances, lectures, presentations, and film programs for internal and external events at the Museum. This position works alongside an AV team that supports all audio-visual needs for museum events.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of professional audio-visual/sound technician experience.
  • 1+ years of experience with live music events.
  • Proficiency in Windows and MacOS platforms, including PowerPoint and Keynote.
  • Basic knowledge of audio and visual documentation and duplication techniques.
  • Familiar with networking and Information Technology practices.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Ability to set up, adjust, maintain, and troubleshoot a variety of audio-visual and computer presentation equipment.
  • Ability to handle technical needs for live presentations, lectures, and performances.
  • Ability to work with telecommunication and networking equipment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to solve technical problems often under challenging time constraints and conditions.
  • Ability to work effectively using a personal computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to remain standing for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work long hours and adapt to dynamic and unpredictable schedules.
  • Ability to work well with the public, including outside presenters.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Ability to independently manage one’s time and support multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Assertive, diligent, and responsive when it comes to discussing, instructing, and aiding partner Technology groups, multiple departments, and managers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installing, operating, and taking down all aspects of audio-visual/sound support for Museum programs and events.
  • Assist DMA curators and visiting artists/performers to best suit their AV needs, including display adjustments e.g. calibrating color contrast, balance, and exposure.
  • Aid staff, guests, clients, and presenters with any difficulties relating to use of Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or related software needed for virtual events and recordings.
  • Provide technical assistance towards in-person and teleconferenced live streaming events.
  • Aiding in teleconference meetings across varied software, ensuring proper connectivity and audio-visual setup for internal and external participants.
  • Help maintain all Audio-Visual and IT hardware and software in Cook Boardroom, Dozier Study Room, Classroom B, Founder’s Room, and AV storage rooms.
  • Equipment management regarding fire safety practices, trip hazards, visual and auditory obstructions.
  • Support both internal and external stakeholders of the museum to ensure maximum production value for all events.
  • Operate the theatre booth including film, video, DVD, and digital formats.
  • Assist in operating audio and lighting during live presentations.
  • Maintain and focus projectors regularly and prior to all relevant events.
  • Maintain and control inventory of multimedia equipment.
  • Provide technical assistance towards setup for meetings, presentations, and training.
  • Participate in weekly department logistics and meetings.
  • Work closely with AV team, all departments, and museum staff in event coordination.
  • Work closely with Museum catering staff in the event coordination of private events.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
