About The Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Junior Structural CADD Designer for our Houston office. Be involved in projects with our Transportation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. Your Impact The ideal candidate will have broad-based, hands-on experience in drafting CADD software including the ability to execute tasks as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Key elements of the successful candidates’ experience and capabilities shall include: Utilize AutoCAD, and/or Bentley MicroStation software(s) to create engineering contract documents (CADD drawings) and create 3D design and models. Eagerness and demonstrated ability to efficiently adapt to changes in existing software and learn new software. Read and understand plans, design sketches and drawings. Draft and develop engineering contract documents as directed from engineering mark-ups, sketches, detailed drawings, and verbal direction Assist office staff in use of CAD software, including troubleshooting of CAD issues. Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work. Adhere to WSP USA quality Assurance Policies/Procedures, CADD protocol, as well as client standards and requirements. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • 2+ years’ experience.
  • Familiar with drafting and design support principles, practices, process, methods and techniques.
  • Research and evaluation skills with analytical mindset.
  • Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may occasionally extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree or some college in closely related discipline is preferred.
  • Experience with TXDOT CADD standards
  • Digital Delivery software experience including Bentley Open Road Modeler, Bentley Open Bridge Modeler, AutoDesk InfraWorks, etc.
