About The Position

As a member of the High School administrative team, the High School Vice Principal supports the Principal in the leadership, implementation, and daily operation of the High School program. The Vice Principal assists in carrying out the school’s vision, mission, and strategic priorities by helping oversee student life, campus culture, academic support systems, and the day-to-day functioning of the school. Working collaboratively with the Principal, faculty, staff, students, and families, the Vice Principal helps ensure that the school environment supports students’ spiritual, academic, social, and physical development in accordance with Loma Linda Academy's mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, MA in Leadership and Administration preferred
  • SDA Teacher Certification
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in education and leadership/administration
  • Committed Christian leader with a passion for faith-based education
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and procedure manuals. Ability to create routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with parents, employees, and school administration.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs;
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidence. Must be organized and detailed. Must possess skills in working with culturally and ethnically diverse groups. Must possess strong listening and communication skills. Must possess adaptability and creative responses to setbacks and obstacles. Must have personal time management skills, and motivation to work toward goals.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Principal in the implementation of the school vision, mission, and strategic initiatives.
  • Assist in the daily leadership and management of the High School program.
  • Collaborate with the Principal and administrative team to ensure effective school operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide administrative support and leadership for faculty and staff in areas related to student life, school culture, and campus systems.
  • Assist the Principal in resolving operational issues that affect the day-to-day functioning of the school.
  • Provide administrative presence and supervision during the school day and at school events.
  • Oversee daily student attendance, including generating and analyzing reports to identify attendance trends.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, administration and families to address attendance concerns.
  • Develop programs and interventions to improve attendance and student engagement.
  • Enforce school rules and policies in alignment with school philosophy and expectations.
  • Implement appropriate disciplinary measures and maintain accurate discipline records.
  • Communicate with students, parents, and faculty regarding disciplinary matters.
  • Develop and implement programs that foster a positive school climate.
  • Identify and address student needs through collaboration with faculty and administration.
  • Support initiatives that promote students’ spiritual, academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Provide leadership and support for student activities, student leadership programs, and campus life initiatives.
  • Serve as the administrative liaison for student clubs and organizations.
  • Collaborate with faculty sponsors and student leaders to ensure programs align with the mission and values of the school.
  • Monitor student progress toward meeting the community service graduation requirement.
  • Oversee student association and class elections in collaboration with sponsors.
  • Participate in High School and TK-12 committees as assigned, including but not limited to: High School Administrative Committee High School Guidance Committee High School Curriculum Committee Graduation Committee TK-12 Instructional Council Ad Council
  • Chair the Head Sponsors Committee.
  • Provide administrative oversight for selected student programs and activities.
  • Serve as administrative sponsor for a designated class (Junior or Senior).
  • Chaperone school trips and events as assigned by the Principal.
  • Plan and organize annual college visit day(s).
  • Provide administrative presence and supervision for campus activities, athletics, and special events.
  • Assist the Principal with administrative responsibilities, initiatives, and duties as assigned.
  • Lead the planning and coordination of new student orientation and the annual rules assembly.
  • Collaborate with the Guidance Counselor in planning Academy Day.
  • Assist in planning and organizing Parent-Teacher Conferences.
  • Coordinate student chapel seating and locker assignments.
  • Assist with summer preparation for registration and student scheduling.
  • Support planning and coordination of graduation weekend programs and events.
