About The Position

JOB SUMMARY : Provide classroom, targeted instruction for migrant and Title IA and LEP students in electives in the District’s Federal Programs PK-12 Summer School Program. QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: PK-12 curriculum. Skilled in: T eaching migrant, Title IA AND Title III students . Ability to: (1) Design or adopt curriculum and assessment tools for use with LEP and migrant students ; (2) manage educational assistant and student interns;; (3) maintain classroom discipline; (4) demonstrate classroom organization and behavior management; (5) understand social and cultural issues affecting migrant students and their families; (6) communicate orally and in writing and build relationships with staff, students and parents; Understanding of: Cultural and social issues affecting diverse students and their families, and students and families experiencing poverty. Experience: Successful experience teaching diverse students,preference given to bilingual candidates. Education: Completion of a higher education bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in education/ teaching and a current Oregon teaching license valid for K-5 grades, ESOL endorsement, technology skills and GLAD and/or other sheltered instruction training. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Align curriculum with grade level standards. Analyze student performance test results and create curriculum and use online programs to help students reach grade level standards. Implement GLAD and/or ELD strategies with support from colleagues and director. Work in PLC’s. Prepare student presentation for the closing ceremony. Cooperate with other members of the staff. Attend all staff in service meetings. Perform other duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS : Language Skills : Ability to read English and comprehend complex technical language. Ability to write memoranda, correspondence, lessons plans, reports, and student achievement summaries in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations. Mathematical Skills : Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy. Reasoning Ability : Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed, but basic, written or oral instructions in English. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Other Skills and Abilities : Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor(s), staff, students, parents and community. WORK DAYS/HOURS : Tentative Schedule: July 1–2 (8:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.) – Professional development and program preparation July 6–30 (8:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.) – Student contact day July 29 Family Engagement Night July 31 (8:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.) – Final staff workday ALL DATES, HOURS AND EMPLOYMENT CONTINGENT ON ENROLLMENT AND GRANT FUNDING.
