About The Position

This is a full-time position and receives all benefits afforded to regular employees. This position requires working 40 hours per week. Summary: This position performs technical duties in the provision of care to shelter animals in the kennels. Essential Functions of the Job: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. This classification is part of the broad-band compensation plan. Duties listed may not be performed by all incumbents, and the level may be assigned based on each incumbent's skills and proficiencies. Feeds, waters, and cares for animals; ensures that animals are kept in clean and humane conditions; monitors animals for signs of illness or distress. Cleans kennels, cages, and equipment using disinfectants and sanitizing agents; performs laundry duties; disposes of animal waste. Assists with the intake and release of animals; processes adoption paperwork; provides information and assistance to the public. Administers medications to animals as directed; assists with vaccinations, micro-chipping, and other treatments under supervision. Observes and reports animal behavior; maintains health, feed, and activity logs. Assists with euthanasia processes and disposes of carcasses as needed. Interacting with potentially dangerous animals in a kennel setting. Provides training and guidance to volunteers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license.
