About The Position

Oceanside Adventist Elementary is seeking a passionate Transitional Kindergarten/Kindergarten Teacher to lead our early learning classroom in a caring, Christ-centered school community. The TK/K Teacher will cultivate a warm, engaging environment that supports students during their foundational years of development, intentionally nurturing the whole child - academically, socially, and spiritually. This role fosters a classroom that balances academic excellence with social-emotional growth and hands-on, experiential learning. Rooted in our core values of L.O.V.E. (Leadership, Outreach, Virtue, and Excellence), the teacher will guide students in building character, developing independence, and growing in their faith. The ideal candidate holds an SDA teaching credential and is a collaborative, team-oriented educator who values strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues. This individual will contribute to a vibrant school culture through meaningful learning experiences, including planning field trips, leading service opportunities, and participating in key community events that extend beyond the classroom. The TK/K Teacher actively supports and advances the mission of Seventh-day Adventist education by developing students who are spiritually grounded, intellectually capable, and prepared for a life of service. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in elementary education or related field required
  • SDA teaching credential
  • Valid teaching credential or willingness to pursue certification
  • Experience working with young children required
  • Strong understanding of early childhood development and best practices
  • Ability to create a nurturing, structured, and engaging learning environment
  • Commitment to integrating faith and character development into daily instruction
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to balance academic instruction with social-emotional and experiential learning
  • Organized, flexible, and able to manage multiple responsibilities
  • Proficiency with educational technology tools
  • Ability to contribute positively to a Christ-centered, team-oriented school culture
  • Ability to remain active throughout the school day (standing, walking, bending, kneeling)
  • Ability to lift and carry classroom materials (up to approximately 30 lbs.)
  • Ability to engage with students at their level (sitting, crouching, floor interaction)
  • Maintain attentiveness and supervision in both indoor and outdoor settings

  • TK/Kindergarten or early childhood experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons that support early childhood learning and curiosity
  • Foster a balanced approach to instruction that includes academic foundations, social-emotional growth, and hands-on learning
  • Implement a Standards-Based Learning approach to support student progress and mastery
  • Differentiate instruction to meet a variety of learning needs and developmental levels
  • Integrate faith, character development, and the core values of L.O.V.E. into daily instruction
  • Create meaningful learning experiences that promote exploration, creativity, and critical thinking
  • Use developmentally appropriate assessments to guide instruction and monitor student growth
  • Maintain accurate and timely student records
  • Analyze MAP data to guide instruction and student progress
  • Communicate student progress clearly and consistently with families each quarter
  • Collaborate with staff to support student success and intervention when needed
  • Establish clear routines and expectations that promote independence, safety, and a positive classroom culture
  • Create a warm, engaging, and organized classroom environment that reflects student learning
  • Guide student behavior in a redemptive, Christ-centered manner
  • Foster a sense of belonging, encouragement, and respect among students
  • Plan and coordinate field trips that enhance and extend classroom learning
  • Lead and implement two service day projects throughout the school year, fostering a spirit of outreach and service
  • Actively participate in school community events outside of regular school hours, including: Fall Festival TK–4 Music Program
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with families
  • Partner with families to support student growth and development
  • Support a collaborative, encouraging, and community-centered school environment
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development, and assigned duties (recess, lunch, etc.)
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support a unified and positive school culture
  • Maintain professionalism, organization, and confidentiality in all responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional and spiritual growth
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal
