About The Position

As a Kinship Home Finder, you’ll play a vital role in our mission by supporting kinship resources who are ready to open their homes and hearts to children they know in foster care. The Kinship Home Finder partners with relatives, close family friends, and other trusted adults—grandparents, aunts, teachers, neighbors—who have stepped forward to foster a young person in need. Many of these families face significant challenges and require high levels of support. Our team walks alongside them, providing guidance, resources, and encouragement so they can create safe, stable, and nurturing homes where youth can thrive.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required, associate or bachelor’s preferred in a human services field
  • 1-year experience working with at-risk youth and families
  • Experience in trauma informed care, behavioral intervention, family support services, kinship support, family preservation, child welfare support, family stabilization, kinship navigation services, case management for kinship families, caregiver advocacy and support, and guardianship support.
  • Takes initiative to remove barriers

  • Organized & reliable
  • Ability to handle crisis intervention in solution focused manner
  • Flexible schedules (days, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays). May be subject-to-call as determined and when needed to support after-hours.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and acceptable driving history to Agency.
  • Willingness to complete your certification as a NTDC (National Training and Development Curriculum/GPSII) and CPR/First Aid trainer within 6 months.
  • Ability to work with an economically and culturally diverse population.

Responsibilities

  • Family Support and Certification Walk fictive and nonfictive kinship through the certification process with compassion and clarity within required timeframes.
  • Conduct home visits and safety assessments, ensuring every home meet state required standards while also helping families feel confident and supported.
  • Facilitate pre-service and on-going training, such as NTDC (our foster parent certification course) CPR and First aid, and other programs to help promote success.
  • Complete initial certification assessment and annual reassessment of foster families in accordance with New York State regulations, including the preparation of home studies.
  • Monitor homes to ensure they meet agency and New York State regulations.
  • Stay connected with foster parents after certification to build lasting relationships and ensure ongoing engagement.
  • Build trust and support to Kinship foster families by providing the resources needed to maintain a safe environment for the youths in their care.
  • Keep accurate records and documentation
  • Operate multiple software systems in documenting and driving program/agency required outcomes. This includes maintaining all case records and required documentation per agency's standards.
  • Track progress, identify opportunities for growth, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Share our mission by attending community events, networking with local organizations, schools, businesses, and faith-based groups.
  • Build trust quickly with potential families inspiring them to take the next step.
  • Assist in agency/foster care recruitment efforts, as necessary.
