Work. Explore. in Mount Rushmore! Job Summary: The Kitchen Steward position will support the operational team by ensuring the Food and Beverage spaces, including but not limited to the kitchen, dish/ pot/laundry rooms, dry storge and hot line, are impeccably clean, sanitized, and ready for service at all times. This position will help ensure that the facility meets or exceeds health and safety standards. The Details: Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round Season Dates: as soon as possible Pay: $15.05/hour Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays) Why Mount Rushmore National Memorial? Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in housekeeping, janitorial work, or foodservice roles is preferred
  • Knowledge of kitchen/food service cleaning techniques, materials, and equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely and follow proper procedures
  • Ability to operate an industrial floor scrubbing machine
  • A friendly, professional demeanor when interacting with guests and staff
  • Willing to “pitch-in” and help the team with tasks.
  • Must be a positive team player with flexible schedules who like to have fun and have the passion to work.
  • Constantly standing, walking, handling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 12 pounds.
  • Frequently reaching outward, squatting/kneeling, bending, lifting/carrying 11-50 pounds, and pushing/pulling 13-40 pounds.
  • Occasionally sitting, reaching over shoulder, climbing, crawling, and pushing/pulling over 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness of food preparation and other assigned areas including but not limited to kitchen, pot room, dish room, laundry room and dry storage to including, but not limited to floors (and grout), walls, slip proof mats on hot line, exterior surfaces of kitchen cooking and food holding / storage equipment, handwashing sinks, and hot line hood vents.
  • Clean, sanitize and label all children’s highchairs.
  • Ensure all trash receptacles are emptied after food outlet(s) are closed and properly cleaned both inside and out. This includes all bussing stations.
  • Perform periodic deep cleaning of larger kitchen equipment, including ovens, stoves, fryers, and refrigerators, to prevent the buildup of grease and food residue.
  • Clean vents, filters, and exhaust systems to ensure air quality and hygiene in foodservice areas.
  • Report any health or safety hazards to the supervisor and take immediate action to address issues if needed; including reporting any pest activity to management and assisting with preventative measures
  • Monitor cleaning supplies and inform supervisors when stock levels are low or when additional items are needed.
  • Ensure that cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuums, mops, floor scrubbers) is properly maintained and stored when not in use.
  • Follow Company and departmental environmental and safety practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
