The Lab Analyst is responsible for performing technical laboratory duties in support of the petrochemical and polyethylene units at the facility as well as supporting testing for external customers as needed.     This position is responsible for receiving plant samples, accurate and timely performance of laboratory testing and reporting. Other job duties include routine maintenance, quality assurance/ quality control activities and communicating with all levels of plant operations along with other non-testing activities as required.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Chemistry, Laboratory Technician, or related technical field from an accredited college with 5+ years of relevant experience OR High School Diploma/GED with 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision after initial on-the-job training
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a high level of focus and attention to detail
  • Ability to operate, trouble-shoot and maintain highly specialized instruments/equipment and software
  • Excellent computer skills and a familiarity with standard Microsoft products
  • The ability to demonstrate Chevron Phillips Chemical Company’s Leadership Elements. Specifically, A high level of personal integrity, professionalism, and a team-oriented approach

Nice To Haves

  • B.S. Degree in a science related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in an analytical laboratory
  • Knowledge and experience with: Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Quality Management Systems, Good Documentation Practices, and Good Laboratory Practices

Responsibilities

  • Maintains lab infrastructure, manages stock of raw materials, packaging materials, and spare parts to keep infrastructure operational
  • Tests raw materials and samples according to written test methods and assesses results against the QC Specifications
  • Organizes and manages good housekeeping practices in the Laboratory
  • Supports investigations into hygiene standards and non-compliance to quality standards
  • Troubleshoots and coordinates repairs of assigned equipment, including working with site maintenance personnel when appropriate
  • Supports researchers in planning, executing, problem-solving, and communicating experimental results
