About The Position

The Lab Assistant plays a crucial role in the efficient and accurate flow of
laboratory samples. This position is responsible for receiving, accessioning,
sorting, and preparing a variety of biological specimens for analysis by
different laboratory departments. The Lab Assistant ensures proper patient
identification, specimen integrity, and accurate data entry, adhering to
established protocols and safety guidelines. This role requires meticulous
attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work
effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in a clinical laboratory setting, particularly in specimen processing, is highly desirable.
• Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in handling specimens and entering data.
• Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills to manage a high volume of specimens efficiently.
• Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Technical Aptitude: Ability to learn and utilize laboratory information systems (LIS) and other computer applications.
• Manual Dexterity: Good manual dexterity for handling small vials and operating laboratory equipment.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve basic specimen-related issues.
• Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing workflows and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of Laboratory Safety: Understanding laboratory safety procedures and the proper handling of biological specimens.
