About The Position

Beta Analytic has an exciting opportunity for an Instrument Laboratory Technician. This is a full-time hourly position - 40 hours per week. There is the potential for additional compensation - Overtime when there is the workload demand (paid at 1 ½ the equivalent hourly rate). POSITION OVERVIEW: The Instrument Lab Technician is involved with sample production and maintenance of our AMS and IRMS instruments. Duties include but are not limited to wheel loading, tuning the AMS, starting the IRMS’s, general maintenance and troubleshooting the instruments when required. All technical training specific to the Company’s operations will be provided but having a good aptitude in basic science is beneficial (including school-based lab experience). Applicants should be able to demonstrate an affinity to learn, follow instructions from others and apply the training received consistently and efficiently in daily operations. The Company is currently seeking qualified, hard-working, team-oriented applicants for this laboratory position. Note - We are a production laboratory not a research facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a basic science field is required. Chemistry, Geology and Biology is a plus.
  • A minimum of one year of hands-on laboratory work including college/university experience.
  • Strong Attention To Detail is required.
  • Have excellent oral/written communication skills along with computer software skills with the ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and comfortable interfacing with all staff members at all levels of the company.
  • Be an overall team player.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize work to maximize efficiency and meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to show accountability.
  • Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • The position has physical requirements such as being able to stand on your feet for long periods of the day, climbing up and down stairs and regularly lifting as much as 40 pounds.
  • Local Candidates only (Miami-Dade & Broward).
  • Must be comfortable working any day of the week including weekends.
  • Beta Analytic is a non-smoking company.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in IRMS (isotope ratio mass spectrometry), specifically Thermo Delta V and Thermo MAT253 instruments and/or SSAMS systems or other AMS systems is preferable.
  • Experience with balances, microscopes, chemicals, vacuum systems, pressure fittings, electronics and familiarity with the behavior of gases under changing pressure (physical chemistry) is also a plus.
  • Someone who is mechanically inclined is strongly preferred (good with tools and machinery, adept at fixing things).
