About The Position

The Laboratory Coordinator is primarily responsible for managing both operation and inventory of academic laboratories in the Division of Arts & Sciences.

Requirements

• Associates of Science or Certificate in a science or related field
• Two years specialized training in applied science or a relate field
• Knowledge of general laboratory procedures - Advanced
• Knowledge of scientific subjects such as biology, chemistry or physics - Proficient
• Knowledge of governmental safety regulations regarding laboratory chemicals and supplies Proficient
• Ability to maintain inventory of equipment and supplies in a scientific laboratory - Proficient
• Ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment - Proficient

Nice To Haves

• Bachelors of Science
• Two years specialized training in applied science or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Maintains inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies
• Disburses equipment and supplies to faculty and students
• Dispenses chemicals according to government safety regulations
• Prepares bid lists for filling inventory requirements
• Assists faculty in development of class presentations requiring laboratory items.
• Surpluses or scraps items per inventory and property management guidelines
• Disposes of chemical waste following appropriate regulations
• Maintains safety data sheet library
• Maintains collections
• Meets with sales representatives of vendors offering laboratory equipment and supplies
• Makes minor repairs on equipment and refers major repairs to vendor technicians
• Updates laboratory procedure manuals as needed
• Oversees student laboratory assistants
• Performs other duties as assigned
