Eurofins Drinking Water and Wastewater Central, is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to join our team. The Laboratory Supervisor will oversee all laboratory operations and employees, ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, support implementation of a robust and effective Quality Assurance program, and the review of continuous improvement activities in support of site safety.

Requirements

  • Basic Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, biology, chemistry, environmental sciences, physical sciences, or engineering. Coursework must include at least sixteen (16) college semester credit hours in general microbiology and biology and at least twenty-four (24) college semester credit hours in chemistry.
  • Have at least two (2) years of experience in the environmental analysis of representative analytes for which the laboratory seeks or maintains accreditation. Master’s degree or doctoral degree in microbiology, biology, chemistry will reduce requirement of experience by one year as substitution.
  • Have at least one (1-2) years of experience in the environmental analysis of inorganic and organic analytes for which the laboratory seeks or maintains accreditation. Master’s degree or doctoral degree in microbiology, biology, chemistry will reduce requirement of experience by one year as substitution.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of previous laboratory experience or supporting laboratory operations.
  • 2+ years of previous leadership experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
  • Professional working proficiency in English is required, including the ability to read, write, and speak in English.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all activities and employees of the location
  • Project management of all received samples and projects as needed
  • Analyze analytic testing on potable and non-potable water samples
  • Perform monthly environmental testing (water, surfaces, air) and annual calibrations
  • Receive and log potable water and non-potable water samples from clients
  • Submit all compliance drinking water to State Heath Authority and EPA as needed
  • Answer and respond to all client correspondence via phone and email
  • Schedule all equipment calibration and maintain diligent records
  • Schedule all sample collections performed by the location
  • Consult water systems and utilities on testing and sampling procedures
  • Maintain laboratory supply inventory
  • Maintain all SOPs and training documents
  • Maintain all NELAP certification requirements including but not limited to: proficiency testing, internal audits, logbook audits, on-site audits by accreditation body and audit responses
  • Act as onsite Quality Assurance Leader: Ensure adherence to highest quality and efficiency standards in laboratory operations
  • Lead interventions in laboratories with inadequate Quality Systems or management
  • Review the laboratory monthly reports to stay current with laboratory issues and achievements
  • Review audit responses for the laboratory, as needed
  • Compile Quality System metrics to monitor the status and performance of the laboratory
  • Monitor laboratory certification activities to ensure no major losses of certifications
  • Investigate issues raised by clients, QA, sales, and other departments to find root cause, implement corrective action, and document proper response
  • Perform internal investigations of suspected data integrity related and/or ethics violation issues
  • Identify and/or develop model Quality System tools, policies, and procedures, and make these available for adoption within the laboratory
  • Develop and participate in the Quality Management Training for new and prospective quality management staff
  • Participate in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) oversight and standardization
  • Assist with internal Quality Systems Audits as needed
  • Act as onsite Health and Safety Leader: Ensure maintenance of training records for all employees
  • Assist in identification of systematic problems within laboratories
  • Recommend resolutions for ongoing or recurring nonconformance
  • Maintain historical indices of all technical records including SOPs, QC records, laboratory data, etc.
  • Monitor laboratory for unsafe conditions or acts to keep lab in compliance with the Chemical Hygiene Plan, EH&S Procedures, and company policies.
  • Ensure the proper personal protective equipment is available and personnel are properly trained in its use.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses and identifies and eliminates root cause.
  • Conduct monthly facility inspections for compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations and procedures.
  • Conduct safety equipment checks to ensure proper working order and sufficient inventory.
  • Coordinates emergency response team to provide prompt medical attention and stabilize emergency situation.
  • After emergency is over, assists in determining appropriate clean up procedures.
  • Review and maintains safety data sheets for laboratory materials.
  • Coordinate the management and disposal of laboratory wastes.
  • Review and approves safety practices in standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare and maintains laboratory Integrated Contingency Plan.
  • Monitor air quality in facility, including monitoring fume hoods for proper operation and ventilation.
  • Monitor and maintains chemical inventory.
  • Approves new chemical purchases.
