About The Position

The Laboratory Technologist I main duties include data entry, specimen processing and analysis of clinical/forensic samples. Responsibilities may be limited to one testing area or may overlap across lab departments. This position also provides support to the clinic personnel and clients in the ordering of laboratory tests and proper specimen collection. All laboratory technologists report to department supervisors and the laboratory manager. Current disciplines of testing at Valley Medical include toxicology, immunology and Molecular. Primary Responsibilities: Receive and organize laboratory samples Sample processing, extraction, analysis and reporting of results Perform Instrument maintenance on AU480, Shimadzu LCMS and temperature/humidity monitoring. Perform instrument maintenance and troubleshooting Prepare reagents, controls and standards as appropriate per assay/test system SOP. Process patient results through (LIS) with high attention to detail. Clean glassware and laboratory workspace as assigned. Document corrective and preventative action in all testing procedures Manage, track, organize and order inventory. Ability to analyze data to distinguish questionable assay performance and escalate to technical personnel as appropriate. Operate and maintain robotic liquid handling instrumentation and equipment Adequate vision required for close, peripheral, depth perception capabilities, and the ability to adjust focus. Other duties as assigned Required Education, Experience and Credentials: Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university in chemical, biological, or Medical Laboratory Science or a two-year associates degree and certified as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (ASCP or equivalent). Ability to work independently Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time Able to work in fast-paced environment to maintain test quality and efficiency Preferred Skills and Knowledge: At least 1+ year of laboratory work experience (preferred in regulated lab and with high complexity testing) Experience with liquid handlers, immunoassay analyzers, LC/MS instrumentation and manual pipetting. Previous experience with a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Previous experience with an Electronic Medical Records System (EMR). ASCP accreditation strongly preferred. Additional Position Details: (hours, locations, commute) This is full time role: Schedule Mon-Fri, 8:00M - 4:30PM (30-minute break), hours may vary based upon business needs and growth of services. Job location is the Corporate Laboratory located in Burnsville, MN Compensation: $21 an hour The compensation range may represent the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, qualifications, education, internal equity and business needs. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university in chemical, biological, or Medical Laboratory Science or a two-year associates degree and certified as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (ASCP or equivalent).

Nice To Haves
