About The Position

The City of Greeley Water & Sewer Department is seeking four seasonal laborers interested in learning the Water operations of a treatment plant and providing maintenance to the facility operations during the operational season May - October 2026. This is an entry level “operator in training” opportunity to learn and grow your career with the City of Greeley, located at the Boyd Water Treatment Plant in Loveland, Colorado. The successful incumbent will be a professional who is committed to assisting the Boyd Water Treatment Plant with providing water for a growing, dynamic community. As a part of the Boyd Water Treatment Division, you will work with a group of committed employees, and other professionals who are dedicated to continuing and enhancing Greeley's leadership role in the Colorado water community. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license license with good driving record (MVR and background check required).
  • Experience with hand and power tools.
  • Experience performing janitorial, grounds and mechanical maintenance.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and one of the shifts listed above.
  • Ability to work independently, along with and/or in groups.
  • Ability to properly use hand and power tools to maintain facility.
  • Ability to accurately input, retrieve, and verify work assignments.
  • Collaboration skills, including the ability to work with others from different areas and backgrounds to reach a common goal.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with supervisors, co-workers, and general public.
  • Computer skills, including working knowledge of PC-based methods, SCADA and software in Microsoft windows environment including, Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel,  Outlook, etc.) and the ability to learn and experiment with new software and systems.
  • Interpersonal skills, including the ability to facilitate interaction, communication, and teamwork between others
  • Oral, written, and listening communication skills, including the ability to accurately interpret what others are saying and convey messages, information, concepts, and details accurately and clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and other times.
  • Learn the operation and maintenance of water treatment plants.
  • Learning how to read and interpret gauges and meters used in regulating operations of plant equipment.
  • Learning to monitor objects and data for compliance and operating standards.
  • Learning to perform daily record keeping, water quality sampling, and routine laboratory analysis.
  • Learning to record and maintain data; collect and analyze water samples.
  • Learning to perform other functions such as janitorial, grounds and mechanical maintenance.
  • Follow written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Attend safety sessions and keep informed about safety and emergency procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
