About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: The Land Assistant assists the Land Department in meeting responsibilities pursuant to Public Law 92-203 Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) and adheres to the Sitnasuak Native Corporation Land Use Plan and Policies. This is a full-time position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist with varied projects in the Land Department. Assists with basic surveying. Support supervisor on trips to the field, campsites and homesites. Conduct basic research, prepare, organize and assist with archiving data per the records retention policy. Assist with preparing applications and permits for review. Perform filing tasks as needed. Work as a “team-player” with employees and co-workers in a respectful and supportive manner. Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to learn entry-level surveying skills.
  • Ability to compile and analyze resource data.
  • Ability to walk extensively on field trips and make field exams using GPS and/or surveying equipment.
  • Knowledge of personal computer use, including word processing and spreadsheet programs.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to participate in meetings.
  • Skill in organizing resources, establishing priorities, meeting deadlines and general time management.
  • Strong self-motivation and work ethic; ability to work without direct supervision and ethically with co-workers.
  • Ability to interpret and adhere to corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to company goals.
  • Excellent analytical and forecasting skills; ability to and resolve problems timely, skillfully gather and analyze, information, and develop alternative solutions as needed.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, find fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to actively listen and provide assistance to internal and external customers as needed.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • High School Diploma or GED (General Education Degree).
  • Must be able to walk long distances to perform basic functions of the position.
  • Valid Alaska Driver’s License and ability to comply with SNC Driver Policy.
  • Ability to pass background screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in related field preferred.
