About The Position

The City of O'Fallon is looking for an experienced and motivated Landscape Superintendent to lead the operations of our Landscape Division. As the Landscape Superintendent, you will oversee and guide all operations of the Landscape Division across municipal properties, parks, and designated rights-of-way. Your responsibilities will include: Planning, coordinating, and supervising daily division operations and resource allocation Managing purchasing, drafting bid specifications, and ensuring compliance with city policies Leading special projects as project manager, coordinating contractors and in-house teams Overseeing maintenance and repairs of landscape equipment and facilities Preparing and presenting annual operating and capital budgets Scheduling landscaping and grounds care to support city programs and special events Developing long- and short-term goals for the division Hiring, training, supervising, evaluating, and disciplining staff Preparing reports and presenting at civic, government, and professional meetings Responding to citizen questions, concerns, and after-hours emergencies Acting on behalf of the Assistant Parks Director when needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Five or more years of experience in landscape management or a related area
  • Strong knowledge of agronomy, horticulture, grounds care, and landscape maintenance
  • Understanding of HR principles, risk management, equipment operations, and building codes
  • Ability to obtain a Class A Missouri driver's license
  • Ability to obtain a Certified Public Applicator Certificate
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills
  • Ability to work irregular hours and in various weather conditions

  • Certified Arborist preferred
