About The Position

McWane Ductile New Jersey is an industry leader in manufacturing water distribution and infrastructure products. As our country expanded, so did the need to supply growing cities with clean water and safely remove wastewater. Our location history starts in 1865 when Warren Foundry and Machine Company casted stoves, steam engines, mill gearing and other foundry related items. Currently we specialize in the casting of iron ductile pipes that range from 3" to 24" in diameter. Pay Rate between $26.50 and $29.50 per hour. All rates are in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) Job Summary: The Large Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy-capacity forklifts to move, inspect, and store pipe bundles within the shipping yard. This role requires experience operating large industrial forklifts such as the Hyster H-360HD or Hyundai 160D-9 . The operator is responsible for conducting required equipment inspections, ensuring product quality verification, and maintaining accurate documentation in coordination with the Quality and Scale House teams. This position requires strict adherence to safety procedures, attention to detail, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience operating heavy-capacity forklifts (18,000+ lbs.), preferably handling pipe, structural steel, or similar materials.
  • Experience operating large-capacity equipment such as Hyster H-360HD or Hyundai 160D-9 forklifts required.
  • Must be qualified and certified to operate a forklift; certification will be verified and re-evaluated upon hire.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of proper load handling techniques, including safely stacking and transporting heavy, round, or long materials.
  • Strong safety record and demonstrated commitment to safe work practices.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with strong initiative.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Ability to perform all essential job duties satisfactorily.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to perform strenuous tasks in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work outdoors year-round.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily fork truck inspection and complete all required inspection forms prior to operation.
  • Safely operate large-capacity forklifts (Hyster H-360HD or Hyundai 160D-9 type equipment).
  • Visually inspect every assembled bundle for obvious cosmetic defects, including: Legible stencils Complete coating General visible quality issues Initial bundling ticket after inspection to verify completion.
  • Ensure all pipe entering the shipping yard is inspected and initialed by the Quality Inspector located at the scale house.
  • Record yard storage location on bundling ticket and return documentation to the scale house inspector.
  • Confirm all information on bundling tickets is complete and accurate.
  • Maintain organization and safe storage practices within the yard.
  • Follow all safe job procedures and applicable Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
  • Keep work area clean, safe, and orderly.
  • Immediately communicate unsafe equipment or working conditions to supervision.
  • Work full production schedule, including all scheduled Saturdays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
