About The Position

This position is contingent on Contract Funding. Final offer is contingent upon meeting customer’s tasking requirements. Purpose: Valkyrie Enterprises is looking for a Laser Engineer who will be key support to the Directed Energy Science and Technology Group in Huntsville, AL. Job Description: Will work projects related to Spectral Beam Combing High Power Fiber Connectors. Use technical skills to and creative design approaches enabled by physical and mathematical concepts to solve problems across multiple disciplines. Work to research, analyze and begin design of High-Power Fiber Connectors. Support research and analysis activities and prepare documentation for reviews and reporting. Shall implement and comply with Army policy issuances and changes. Engage in meetings and reviews e.g., tiger teams, working groups, ad hoc meetings, and integrated process teams (IPTs). Gather, review, analyze and process information from the meetings for analysis, assessments, and general program data to aid with reporting.

Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or relevant technical field and at least 8 years of experience in lasers, optics, optical sensing or related areas.
  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • Must be familiar with modeling and simulations.
  • Must have hands on hardware experience.
  • Must have design and data analysis experience.
  • Must have an Active Secret Clearance and the ability to maintain the clearance.
  • Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer experience with Laser Amplifiers.
  • Prefer experience mechanical tolerances.
  • Prefer familiarity with studies and analysis.
