Rye Country Day School is seeking a full-time Upper School Latin Teacher beginning August 2026. Rye Country Day School is a coeducational, Prek-12, college preparatory school located in Westchester County, New York dedicated to providing students with an excellent education using both traditional and innovative approaches. Specific responsibilities of the position include: Teach four sections of Upper School Latin (and potentially Greek). Collaborate with colleagues to continue to develop a dynamic curriculum that fosters mastery of and love for the Latin language and curiosity about the study of the ancient Classical world Develop and implement lessons that consistently encourage student engagement and provide support for becoming curious and competent readers, critical thinkers, and analytical reasoners Grade student assignments and provide timely, constructive feedback of their work Regularly write reports that evaluate student performance and demonstrate knowledge of students’ experiences Participate in faculty and department meetings, field trips, special activities, and rotational duties Seek out and participate in professional growth opportunities embracing a growth mindset Serve as advisor to a group of Upper School students Desired qualifications: Master’s degree in Classics required 3-5 years of experience teaching in an Upper School setting (experience teaching at the Middle School level and/or experience teaching Ancient Greek preferred) A well-developed sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community members; a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion Excitement for working with students Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills Ability to support the extra-curricular life of the school Genuine excitement for and ability to work with students, employees, and families RCDS seeks faculty and staff who support our mission to foster a lifelong passion for learning, understanding, and service in an ever-changing world, and who share our commitment to creating and sustaining a vibrant, thriving, and inclusive multicultural learning community.
