About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: Under general direction, assists Engineering and Operations to ensure a smooth launch of new/current assembly equipment. Activities include assisting in standard work process analysis, equipment and ergonomic planning, organizing and performing burst builds, creating and maintaining Assembly related documents and training of associates.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and skills as normally associated with a high school education.
  • Familiarity with assembly process and standards with ability to use equipment to rework sample built parts. Includes a high degree of manual dexterity.
  • Demonstrated initiative with ability to work independently.
  • Ability to lead group discussions and present training to others.
  • Demonstrated communication skills to organize information and clearly communicate to others both internally and externally.
  • Basic understanding of plant manufacturing operations and lean manufacturing principles to include support operations such as production scheduling, shipping and customer service.
  • Demonstrated understanding of customer quality requirements.
  • Demonstrate ability to work under stressful situations and meet rigid deadlines.
  • At times flexibility in scheduling or overtime hours without much notice will be required.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excell and Powerpoint
  • Must be willing to travel to Equipment builders as needed to support manufacturing engineering.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. as needed.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must maintain proper vision requirements
  • Must be able to maintain alertness to their surroundings.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineering and production in developing standard work process, work area layout and employee training.
  • Assist manufacturing engineering with equipment planning and ergonomic analysis for new launch areas.
  • Assist manufacturing engineering with creation of standard work documents including process check sheets, standard work, TPM, 5S, and any other assembly related documents.
  • Helps coordinate resources to plan and execute burst builds/Run at rates.
  • Develops and presents continuous improvement ideas for lean manufacturing.
  • Assist in training new associates.
  • Ensures appropriate housekeeping activities are completed in launch areas.
  • Support shop floor as Operator/Team lead in cases of unplanned absenteeism.
  • Understand your overall responsibility to ensure the health and safety for the entire Magna Mirrors – South Carolina.
  • Support and direct EHS to be proactive regarding health and safety initiatives.
  • Ensure employees are given written instructions of the measures and procedures required to protect the employee.
  • Ensure employees are advised of the existence of any potential or actual danger to the health or safety of the employee of which the supervisor is aware.
  • Understand your overall responsibility for visitors and general public health and safety in the workplace.
  • Cooperate with OSHA Inspectors.
  • Do not allow discrimination against employees who properly exercise their right under OSHA.
  • Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to set a good example.
  • Ensure that employees wear the appropriate protective devices.
  • Know the safety rules at Magna Mirrors – South Carolina.
  • Understand your responsibility to the environmental programs, including ISO14001.
  • Understand the importance of conformance with all environmental procedures of the environmental management system, including emergency response.
  • Understand the EMS consequences, actual or potential, of their work activities and/or their behaviors from specified work instructions.
  • Understands and follows existing Magna policies, procedures, work instructions and standards and makes recommendations for continuous improvements.
