Rowe Price, the mission of the Enterprise Architecture (EA) function is to empower the firm to achieve its strategic objectives through the optimal use of technology. The EA function will align technology with business capabilities to enable effective strategy execution and business transformation. By monitoring and adopting emerging technologies, EA will drive technology enabled innovation and keep the firm ahead of industry disruption. Role Summary We are seeking a highly experienced and technical Lead Enterprise Application Architect to join our team. This is a pivotal role for the newly established function, initially responsible for providing architectural and technical oversight of foundational architecture components, which will form the basis for our standardization, modernization and simplification initiatives over the coming years. This will involve building a strong relationship with delivery teams, working alongside them to ensure solid, fit for purpose technology, pattern and strategy selection – whilst ensuring the vision is aligned to the overall Enterprise Architecture stated goals. As you develop your presence at TRP, you will gain the opportunity to expand your remit, this could be by widening your architectural remit across the TRP estate – or alternatively, as the Enterprise Architecture team matures – into developing our Platform as a Product offering into a shared architectural components/shared services model, supporting and enabling our application development teams to increase cadence and common pattern usage. From day one, you will be expected to continually champion architectural and engineering excellence across TRP, highlighting both areas of strength and areas to be targeted for improvement – alongside acting as one of the enablers of technical innovation within the firm. The ideal candidate will possess a strong, technical background – alongside a strong ‘right tool for the job’, research-based mindset and relationship based influencing skills.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field and 10+ years of experience in IT, with 4+ years in a senior Architect or developer role (Enterprise Architecture Organization preferred)
  • Proven experience leading and influencing other, technical team members.
  • Experience establishing application development patterns and practices.
  • Technical Skills: Deep understanding of application development and architecture principles, patterns, best practices.
  • Professional experience with a variety of technologies – including database, messaging and at least one object orientated language (C#, C++, Java)
  • Proficiency in application development in both on-premise, cloud and hybrid models.
  • Experience with DevSec Ops practices and tools.
  • Leadership and Soft Skills: Strong influencing and collaboration skills with the ability to inspire, guide teams and develop global connections.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to be engaged in multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in TOGAF 9 Enterprise Architecture Practitioner certification.
  • Cloud Certifications highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning and Development: Work alongside your colleagues in the Enterprise Architecture team to develop both the current and strategic state architectures for the firm.
  • Architecture Design and Implementation: Lead or advise on the architecturally significant design of robust, scalable, and secure application solutions. Ensure all components adhere to enterprise architecture standards and best practices. Champion reusable, scalable, cloud-first architecture to the application teams.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Lead and mentor a team of architects and engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. Collaborate with IT leaders, business stakeholders, and external partners to ensure successful delivery of technology projects. Provide expert guidance on application architecture to other teams within the organization.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives in application architecture, focusing on optimization and modernization. Stay informed about the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies to keep the organization at the forefront of application architecture.
