Position Summary Responsible for all legal representation of Xcel Energy in front of the Public Utilities Commission of Texas and New Mexico Public Regulation Commission. Lead a growing team of attorneys and manage outside counsel in developing and prosecuting key regulatory proceedings. Regularly interface with executives and other leaders in the company regarding regulatory strategy designed to ensure Xcel Energy is able to continue providing reliable, affordable and sustainable power to its customers

Requirements

  • J.D. degree from ABA accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice, or able to be licencsed to practice on reciprocity within a reasonable timeframe of accepting the position, in the state where the position is located.
  • 10 or more years of practice in corporate law department, law firm, government practice or equivalent experience.
  • Leadership experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and counsel to Xcel Energy management on legal, business, legislation, regulation and strategic matters.
  • Prepares contracts, agreements and other documents for business transactions.
  • Represents Xcel Energy in courts, regulatory agencies and other adjudicatory or adversarial proceedings.
  • Manages a team of attorneys within area of expertise.
  • May act as a primary point of contact for business areas.
