About The Position

The Lead Behavioral Health Technician (Lead BHT) plays a vital role in supporting individuals on their recovery journey while helping guide and mentor a team of Behavioral Health Technicians. In this role, the Lead BHT assists the Clinical Team with assigned treatment procedures, provides direct supervision of clients, and serves as a role model for both clients and staff. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Psychiatric Nursing, or a closely related field OR
• High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of two (2) years of responsible employment history
• Experience in human services or a related field preferred
• St. Louis County Programs: Bachelor’s Degree OR MAADC I or II
• Exceptions to qualifications may be approved by the appropriate Executive Team member
• Must successfully complete background checks, including criminal history, driving record, and abuse/neglect screening
• Must complete New Hire Orientation within 30 days of employment
• Must complete all required training, including Relias, within two (2) weeks of employment and annually thereafter
• First Aid certification required within three (3) months of hire and upon renewal
• CPR certification required within three (3) months of hire and upon renewal
• Must complete Behavioral Management training within required timeframes based on program type
• Must meet annual training hour requirements per regulatory standards, including ASAM training where applicable
• Must possess a valid driver’s license in state of residency with an acceptable driving record
• Must be at least 21 years of age to operate a company-owned vehicle
• Must be at least 23 years of age to operate a company-owned 15-passenger van
• For Residential Care Facilities: Must obtain Level 1 Med Aid (LIMA) credential and insulin certification within 90 days of hire
• For select locations and programs: Must provide proof of being free from infectious or contagious disease prior to hire and annually thereafter
• For Adolescent Programs: Must complete required adolescent-focused training within six (6) months of employment
• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time
• Ability to walk and climb stairs as needed
• Frequent kneeling, crouching, bending, and stooping
• Ability to use hands and fingers for writing, typing, and handling documents
• Ability to communicate verbally and hear effectively in person and by phone
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Ability to maintain close vision and adjust focus as needed

Nice To Haves

• Experience in human services or a related field preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead and support Behavioral Health Technicians during assigned shifts, providing guidance, direction, and real-time coaching
• Create and maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment by supervising daily client activities and modeling appropriate behavior
• Facilitate educational and recreational groups that support treatment goals and client engagement
• Assist with training, orientation, and ongoing development of Behavioral Health Technicians
• De-escalate crisis situations in collaboration with Program Leadership using approved interventions
• Coordinate staffing needs by assisting with scheduling and providing coverage for open shifts as needed
• Prepare and support group education materials aligned with program goals
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation in compliance with State Regulatory and CARF standards
• Communicate relevant client behaviors and program updates to the treatment team
• Support medication administration processes in accordance with all program policies
• Complete performance reviews for direct reports within designated timelines
• Perform all duties of a Behavioral Health Technician as needed
• Demonstrate commitment to the organization’s short-term and long-term goals
• Complete additional duties as assigned by leadership
