About The Position

Position Purpose: Collaborates with the surgical team in the Lead Certified Surgical Technologist role under the direct supervision of a qualified Registered Nurse. What you will do: Directs and controls equipment/ materials required for patient care. Under the supervision of the registered nurse, the Lead Certified Surgical Technologist assists the surgeon as a scrub technician according to department standards. Demonstrates leadership accountability focusing on quality and safety Interfaces with other Perioperative leadership staff to coordinate daily needs of the unit. Participates in own performance appraisal as evidenced by reviewing attainment of professional, divisional and departmental goals and identifying new goals for achievement, on a yearly basis. Working Conditions: Ability to stand for long periods of time; ability to work long/irregular hours when assigned to a major case; must work rapidly/efficiently; must be able to assist in lifting and positioning patients; must be adaptable, able to work under close supervision and to follow verbal and written instructions; must be reliable and able to adjust to diversified types of personalities, use tact and judgment; must be in good physical/mental health, have a good memory for detail(s) and be neat, courteous and well-spoken; display highly developed integrity. Position requires ability to frequently lift objects more than 50 pounds, perform moderately difficult manipulative skills; walk, stand and sit for prolonged periods and remain in uncomfortable position Adequate supplies and equipment; large, well-lighted rooms; adherence to policies/standards of the department; all technologists are required to cover call period assigned; some overtime should be anticipated. Employee may frequently be exposed to hazardous waste materials, high temperatures, low temperatures, sudden fluctuations in temperatures, radiation, anesthesia gases, noise, and constantly exposed to blood, body tissues or fluids. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma; Graduate of accredited Surgical Technologist Program Experience: As associated with surgical technologist program. Minimum three years' experience in Specialty area preferred. Certified Surgical Technologist Certification required. CPR Certification required Must possess manual dexterity, be able to plan and organize work, communicate effectively, apply basic technique to numerous situations. Requirements

  • High School Diploma
