Lead Cook- Independent Living Bistro
Our Independent Living Lead Cooks work in three traditional restaurant style dining rooms with varying menus and work shifts Are you passionate about food, teamwork, and making every meal memorable? As our Lead Cook (Prep), you’ll not only prepare delicious menus but also step up as a leader in the kitchen when the Executive Chef or Sous Chef is away. This is your chance to showcase your culinary skills and help guide a talented team!

Requirements

• Have the ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively and perform simple arithmetic. Ability to understand measurements and conversions.
• Have three plus years’ experience in a hotel, restaurant, or club with fine dining preferred.
• Able to plan and organize work, to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications, and standards.
• Knowledgeable of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance. Some knowledge of nutrition and diet. Health Care experience desirable
• Have at least two years of cooking experience (required)
• Have at least two years of kitchen management experience (required)

Nice To Haves

• Have one year experience in long term care, preferred
• Have culinary education and supervisory background desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist the kitchen staff in all aspects of daily assignments, as required.
• Monitor Labeling of all products in the kitchen
• Assist in daily shift change walk-through of kitchen staff.
• Ensure that each plate leaving the kitchen meets high presentation standards, is a quality product and is properly portioned.
• Be responsible for the direction of the kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef.
• Assist in creating, planning, costing, and executing menus, theme buffets, specials and holiday menus.
• Assist with food orders, production sheets and related material.
• Assist the chef in executing all catered and special functions.
