About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: Assist the Director of Medical Imaging by overseeing daily operation of the CT department to ensure quality services. Performs all clinical duties of staff CT technologist. Establishes protocols, dose reduction techniques, for department under the supervision of medical director, and hospital RSO. Subject level expert for CT scanners' performance, Contrast agent administration, radiation safety and quality assurance. Communicates complex operational issues which require his/her attention to the Director in a timely fashion. SHIFT DETAILS: Full Time. Day Shift. Requirements

  • Graduate from an approved/accredited School of Radiologic Technology required.
  • Minimum of 3 years as staff CT technologist required.
  • ARRT (R) (CT) Required.
  • Licensed Texas Medical Board Medical Radiologic Technologist.
  • Technical, clerical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills relevant to patient care/area.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Other certification requirements as defined by the certification policy.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently supports and communicates the Mission, Vision, and Values of St. Joseph Medical Center.
  • Upholds the Standards of Conduct and Corporate Compliance.
  • Oversees staff preparations of patients for procedures by supporting appropriate medical history, careful screening for contrast reaction, reviewing physician orders for accuracy, and maintains rigid adherence to department safety standards.
  • Ability to provide coverage at multiple CT locations when needed.
  • Provides oversite of all CT technologist performance and addresses corrective action as needed.
  • Monitors daily patient schedule to ensure staffing is appropriate for patient load for each of the CT areas.
  • Participates in Hospital sponsored community health screenings and events.
  • Coordinates with department Director interviewing, hiring, orientation and training of all new CT technologists.
  • Consistently follows patient care, and facility guidelines and procedures in performance.
  • Collaborates with inter and interprofessional colleagues to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Assist and coordinates PTO, FMLA and holiday schedules of CT team.
  • Displays cooperative attitude and communicates effectively with Radiologist Team, Staff Physicians, other imaging areas and /or other hospitals departments to expedite patient care.
  • Completes annual education requirements.
  • Maintains competency, as evidenced by completion of competency validation requirements.
  • Promotes of a culture of patient safety which results in the identification and reduction of unsafe practices.
  • Uses professional judgment and critical thinking to prepare, prioritize, and execute the patient's plan of care consistently with patient assessment data, physicians' treatment plans, and professional standards of care.
  • Implements measures to prevent exposure to infectious pathogens and communicable conditions.
  • Identifies risks and hazards to patients through various risk assessments, with actions taken to mitigate patient harm.
  • Follows the St. Joseph Medical Center Guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), designed to prevent, or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments.
  • Enhances the patient's experience by fostering a positive relationship with customers.
  • Contributes to improving patient satisfaction results.
  • Promotes stewardship of hospital resources while ensuring quality patient care.
