We are seeking an innovative and results-oriented Lead Data Scientist with a strong understanding of machine learning, generative AI, and data-driven product development to join our dynamic AI Strategy and Development Team. This pivotal role focuses on architecting and implementing cutting-edge AI solutions for the energy sector, working directly with leadership to shape our technical vision and product roadmap. This role will initially report to SVP, R&D. Arcadia is remote-first and employees have access to co-working spaces. We are open to candidates based in Washington DC or New York. #LI-REMOTE

Requirements

  • Gen AI experience - both in the development of agentic / LLM-based product features and the use of Gen AI-based products in day-to-day model development
  • 2-5 years of experience developing Machine Learning/AI-based systems in an iiterative or dynamic/agile development environment. Experience in the energy sector is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10-12 years of technical experience in data and/or engineering
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, or equivalent fields.
  • Practical experience with Applied Machine Learning techniques, including regression, classification, and supervised/unsupervised learning
  • Fluency with Python or R, SQL, and Java or JavaScript
  • Experience with software engineering for real-world applications (ideally through professional experience)
  • Strong foundation in mathematics including, linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics
  • Experience with scalable machine learning (MapReduce, streaming).
  • Experience with time series and dynamical systems.
  • Ability to manage projects and work efficiently independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to quickly formulate and document assumptions to advance projects
  • Strong commitment to continuous learning and professional growth, solution-oriented, and committed to making a positive impact
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Prepared to share project portfolio (GitHub, papers, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate directly with executive leadership to shape the technical AI strategy and product development at Arcadia
  • Efficiently develop notebook-based and agentic solutions for internal and external customers, utilizing AI models, and Arcadia’s APIs and data
  • Lead the development and integration of Gen-AI models and agents into Arcadia’s products and processes
  • Design and implement Machine Learning algorithms for critical energy applications, including forecasting, anomaly detection, and energy optimization
  • Partner with data teams, Arcadia’s subject matter experts, and customer teams to seek, understand, validate, interpret, and correctly use data, models, and outputs.
  • Work with engineering to integrate models into the Arcadia Platform, contributing to design documents, code commits, and AI product documentation
  • Contribute code to enhance our platform’s AI and data capabilities
  • Collaborate effectively with remote team members
