GE Vernova's Greenville Technology Lab is looking to hire a Lead Facility Engineer - Electrical with experience and practical skills across electrical systems up to 15 kV, with focus on Electrical Generation/Protection and Medium Voltage Distribution equipment. What you'll do: You will be responsible for the Greenville test labs' electrical infrastructure from 15 kV feed, transformers, switchgears, MCC, distribution panels, down to DC control voltage levels for test equipment devices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university with a minimum of 5 years of experience or a 2-year Electrical Technology Degree (or closely related field) with a minimum of 6 years of experience.
  • Electrical construction experience performing inspections during installation, addressing RFI and resolving general issues to meet project design intent and schedule.
  • Hands on Experience with Electrical Testing on (15kV Transformers, Utility sized Generators (50MW+) Switchgear, MCC, Power Panels, VFDs, Protection Relays and an overall understanding of electrical protection schemes.)
  • This role is 100% onsite at the GE Vernova Greenville, SC test lab facility
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated project management experience of electrical and/or controls projects.
  • Electrical Commissioning Experience in a Power Generation facility with a focus on Electrical Equipment testing and overall electrical system startup.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering 8+ years in electrical system design and grid connected power system.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical or electric power construction, installation, operation or maintenance with conventional or renewable power plant, transmission or distribution systems in electric power utilities, power equipment manufacturing, high-voltage and high-power equipment testing.
  • Working knowledge of the electrical codes and standards that apply to large scale Energy systems all around the world (i.e., IEC, UL, NEC, NFPA 70E, BDEW, CEI, NESC etc.).
  • Power study experience including coordination, short circuit, load-flow and arc flash analysis using EasyPower, SKM or similar modeling software packages,
  • Experience in developing single and three line distribution drawings
  • Good organizational skills, with ability to prioritize multiple tasks/projects.
  • Strong working knowledge with power electronics and controls equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (e.g. ability to effectively communicate with all levels).
  • Ability to summarize and communicate complex technical information.
  • Understanding of electric grid and its operations.
  • Understanding/experience with electrical control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a team environment with safety as the highest priority.
  • Be part of the facilities design team to support electrical system design, commissioning, operations, and technical troubleshooting of all levels of the electrical systems.
  • Lead and provide the primary technical direction on facility-based projects to both GE Vernova & Vendor teams.
  • Work closely with Mechanical/Process engineers to understand the overall process system designs and account for these systems in the electrical design and control configuration.
  • Interface with electrical equipment suppliers for Request for Quote (RFQ's), vendor drawing reviews, and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) planning.
  • Understand and write detailed electrical technical specifications (i.e., power transformers, Switchgear, electrical panels etc.) to be used for electrical equipment procurement.
  • Develop technical instructions/procedures (LOTO Procedures) for working on electrical equipment safely.
  • Effectively communicate results to both internal and external customers by preparing detailed written reports or presentations describing analyses performed, solutions developed, and customer value propositions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
