About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Lead Engineer-Water Resources to join our team and support the planning, design, and implementation of innovative coastal restoration and protection projects. This role plays a critical part in advancing shoreline stabilization, marsh creation, and hydraulic restoration initiatives while ensuring technical excellence and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in civil engineering, coastal engineering, or a related field. Relevant and sufficient work experience may substitute for the master’s degree requirement.
  • Professional Engineer license
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in water resources engineering, focusing on coastal projects.
  • Familiar with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS/HEC-HMS, SWMM, Delft3D, MIKE21).
  • Strong understanding of coastal processes, sediment transport, and climate change impacts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of MATLAB, Python, Fortran, and other programming systems.
  • Proficient in computer-assisted design (CAD) and other design, data recording, and analyzation software.
  • Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar tools.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to acclimate to project management software or related software.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement coastal engineering projects, including shoreline protection, marsh creation, and hydraulic restoration.
  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling to assess coastal processes and impacts.
  • Perform site assessments and lead data collection efforts to support project planning and design.
  • Develop and review technical reports, plans, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including environmental scientists and planners.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Participate in community engagement and client meetings to present project findings and gather feedback.
  • Provide technical support during construction and post-construction phases.
  • Conduct field visits to support project needs.
