Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance and operation of the Farmington museum system facilities including the Farmington Museum, Museum of Navajo Art & Culture, E3 Children's Museum & Science Center, Riverside Nature Center, and the Market Pavilion. Works under the supervision of the Museum Director. Supervision is exercised in conjunction with the Administrative Coordinator over Facilities Technicians, temporary and seasonal employees, volunteers, and community services workers working in the building. Assists the Administrative Coordinator with rental reservations, deposits, and other administrative tasks, including fulfilling these tasks when the Administrative Coordinator is not available. Supervises and performs janitorial duties for the Civic Center including changing light bulbs and fluorescent tubes; sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, shampooing, steam cleaning, striping, waxing, polishing, and buffing floors, carpets, and furniture, etc.; dumps garbage and reline cans with liners; cleans and sanitizes restrooms and replenishes supplies; cleans spills; cleans drinking fountains, mirrors, tables, walls, fixtures, blinds, light fixtures, etc; washes windows, walls, metal and woodwork. Also includes specialized cleaning of museum exhibitions, installations, and equipment. Ensures regular cleaning and service for all museum facilities. Supervises crews and performs tasks in preparation for individually designed meetings, exhibits, and events within the museum system and other assigned areas. Using excellent customer service skills establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public. Trains staff in daily job duties including maintenance and cleaning methods. Performs repairs on technical and janitorial equipment as needed. Opens and closes, locks and unlocks facilities as needed. Keeps records of work completed. Enforces safety requirements for members of all crews. Periodically assists in preparing and serving food and drinks for events. Required to perform shift work in a rotation of days, evenings, and nights including weekends and holiday hours. Operates a motor vehicle to assist in carrying out the business of the department and the City. Attendance at work is an essential function of this position. Ability to operate the audio-visual equipment throughout the museum facilities, including microphones, projectors, lighting controls, connect computers for slideshows, and basic sound equalizing.
