About The Position

The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for leading the maintenance for the facilities processing equipment, boilers, chiller refrigeration, HVAC , wastewater treatment, building and grounds, . This role is also responsible for assisting the Maintenance Manager with projects, assigning work, troubleshooting issues, ensure preventative maintenance (PM)’s, work orders (WO), work request (WR) and projects are documented correctly, completed and are verified. This position promotes collaboration and teamwork within the Maintenance Department. This role is people and food safety sensitive.

Requirements

  • Two-year technical degree in maintenance trade preferred.
  • Three years of experience with electrical and mechanical maintenance in a production/ manufacturing environment required.
  • Basic computer skills required, with experience in Microsoft suite, data entry and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)..
  • Ability to frequently lift/carry up to 60 lbs, occasional lift up to 80 lbs with assistance, and ability to push/pull objects up to 2500 lbs using material handling devices. Must be able to lift and carry 60 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to frequently bend, twist/turn, reach above shoulders, and climb throughout shift as needed.
  • Ability to work in an environment that includes: confined spaces, chemicals, hot spaces, noisy spaces, and working at heights with the appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize workload, and multitask.
  • Must have excellent communication skills that includes listening and verbal.
  • Ability to work holidays, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work and lead in a team environment and work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Perform maintenance on stainless equipment, including welding preferred.
  • Knowledge of milk processing equipment preferred.
  • Knowledge of Pasteurize Milk Ordinance (PMO) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) preferred.
  • Basic understanding of plumbing and electrical codes and regulatory standards.
  • Experience with boiler, HVAC, refrigeration, process equipment, VFD’s maintenance and repair preferred.
  • Experience with working in a wastewater system is preferred.
  • Experience with operating Powered Industrial Equipment: forklifts, scissor lift, boom lift and associated fall equipment.
  • Knowledge of ladder logic computer controls preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform adjustments and repairs on PC controlled equipment.
  • Perform maintenance on stainless equipment, including welding preferred.
  • Assist manager with creating and maintaining preventative maintenance task to the standard required for all assets in the with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Monitor PM’s and Work Orders generated are being completed properly and timely, daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually, by hours and 2-year.
  • Ensure all PM instructions are accurately lined out the PM meeting safety, quality and manufacture standards and guidelines.
  • Perform the work on any PM or WO/WR as needed.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance staff to schedule preventative maintenance.
  • Assist with routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Daily Monitoring of facility critical equipment.
  • Perform electrical maintenance, as appropriate for skill level.
  • Assist manager with research of equipment and building repair costs, including obtaining quotes as requested.
  • Perform general carpentry in compliance with building codes, FDA and USDA standards.
  • Operation and manage wastewater Dissolved Air Filtration system to be in compliance within the wastewater discharge permit.
  • Ensure that the maintenance department is following safety, quality assurance and other company policies and practices required as an employee of this company.
  • Manage and maintain purchase order process, and inventory of spare parts.
  • Maintaining maintenance parts and supplies to minimum stock on site.
  • Assist with Maintenance Manager regarding the annual budget process.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager with selecting contract help for equipment, electrical and building repair, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
