About The Position

Working at our Clearwater Location: Clearwater is a provider of engineering, circuit card assembly, OEM Avionics, and MRO services to commercial and military customers. Products and technologies here are diverse and highly sophisticated. Role Overview: The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the development and implementation of manufacturing processes, ensuring they meet our stringent safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives. This role requires a strong background in manufacturing engineering, project management, and a deep understanding of Lean manufacturing principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 7 years of experience in Manufacturing)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, and/or Industrial Engineering
  • This position requires U.S. citizenship status

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with wave solder and selective solder
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong mechanical design ability
  • Experience with programming and set-up of electronic assembly equipment (e.g. screen printers, SMT assembly machines, reflow ovens, wave solder machine, etc.).
  • Prior manufacturing and process improvement accomplishments
  • Ability to manage priorities and achieve results
  • Prior exposure to and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Strong manufacturing process knowledge
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Six Sigma / Lean training

Responsibilities

  • Utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing work instructions and related documentation
  • Design and build / procure necessary fixtures and tooling to manufacture electronic assemblies and products
  • Support assembly equipment upgrades from purchase through installation
  • Conduct cost / benefit analysis for changes to manufacturing processes and / or equipment
  • Assist Production Supervisors and production employees in resolving manufacturing process problems through a drive to root cause and permanent corrective action
  • Support EHS projects in cell
  • Drive Process Improvement / Cycle Reduction initiatives and drive productivity improvements via process changes or improvements
  • Ensure processes contribute to a safe work environment
  • Identify and reduce sources of labor efficiency variations
  • Identify and reduce product quality issues caused by process variation
  • Support the quality function through integration of ISO / QC documentation and manufacturing work instructions
  • Translate technical processes and methods to train and empower production employees in the manufacturing techniques required for greatest yield effectiveness & equipment capability
  • Lead high impact process and quality improvement projects yielding significant reduction in defects and increased productivity in the Cell
  • Attend weekly cross-functional quality sessions and track/drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for Cell issues
  • Lead New Technology Initiatives (NTI) and share best practices with other locations
  • Utilize lean-manufacturing principles and participate in action workouts to improve process capability, reduce overall costs and increase capacity defects and increased productivity in the Cell
