Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Completion of a medical assistant program from an accredited institution.
  • National certification required from one of the following certifying bodies:
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) and proof of current certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); OR.
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) and proof of current certification from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)·
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) and proof of current certification from National Certified Competency Testing (NCCT); AND.
  • Medical Equipment: AED, autoclave, BP cuffs (adult, infant, and pediatric), colposcopy, cryo unit, disposable equipment (gloves, goggles, gowns, etc), EKG machine, glycosometer, nebulizer, nitrogen cylinder, O2 cylinder, pulmonary function machine, pulse oximeter, scale (adult and infant), spirometer, stethoscope, thermometer, wheelchair, and woods lamp.
  • 3 years’ experience in a Medical Assistant position.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Nice To Haves

  • Cross-trained in other clinical specialties: Ob/GYN, Neurology, Pediatrics, Podiatry, Internal Medicine, and any other clinical areas.
  • 2 years’ Lead or Supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and oversees the daily duties of assigned staff within a designated department.
  • Provides guidance and training to assigned staff responsible for clinical duties to include rooming and triage of patients, discharge, and scheduling, processing orders, obtaining prior authorizations, and completing assigned work queues.
  • Works directly with the manager to improve and develop processes.
  • Performs clinical and administrative duties that assist in the delivery of effective patient care within the assigned area.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medical practice and patient care as it relates to the clinical setting and medical specialty.
  • Adheres to policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety.
