About The Position

The Order Entry Lead supports the Order Entry Supervisor by providing day-to-day leadership to the Order Entry team and ensuring accurate, timely processing of customer orders. This role is responsible for helping the department meet performance goals and service level objectives, with a strong emphasis on electronic ordering (EDI, portals, integrations, and customer-submitted electronic orders). The Order Entry Lead serves as a subject matter expert, assists with training and development, and helps drive process improvements to support efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.   This is a hybrid role requiring onsite work three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3+ years of order entry, or order management experience.
  • Experience working with electronic ordering systems (EDI, customer portals, integrations, etc.)
  • Ability to train, coach, and develop others
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in ERP/order entry systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams).

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily direction and support to the Order Entry team to ensure department goals and deadlines are met.
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex order issues, customer requests, and internal questions.
  • Assist with workload balancing and prioritization to ensure timely processing and responsiveness.
  • Serve as a role model for accuracy, professionalism, and customer-first behavior.
  • Support and manage processes related to electronic ordering including EDI, customer portals, automated order feeds, and other electronic order submissions.
  • Monitor electronic order flow to ensure orders are received, validated, and entered correctly.
  • Troubleshoot issues with electronic orders and coordinate with internal partners (IT, Sales Ops, Customer Service, etc.) as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to increase adoption of electronic ordering and reduce manual order entry.
  • Coach and support team members to improve accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with procedures.
  • Help develop and maintain training documentation and standard work instructions.
  • Provide feedback to the Order Entry Supervisor on performance trends and training needs.
  • Work closely with Customer Service, Sales, Operations, Credit, Shipping, and other departments to resolve order issues.
  • Support the Order Entry Supervisor with reporting, metrics tracking, and special projects.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers to ensure service expectations are met.
