Performs as a member of an assigned team to perform those tasks required to support the activiies in a designated area. This position is represented by RCHEA. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years previous experience in hospital admissions or insurance verification
  • Able to file alphabetically
  • Able to organize and maintain good follow-up
  • Able to type quickly and accurately
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of basic office and clerical skills
  • Employee must conform with all HIPAA and other confidentiality regulations as required by the job, department, or hospital
  • This job requires frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, reaching above shoulders, sitting, walking inclines and declines, standing, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive hand motions. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will occasionally lift boxes and/or supplies weighing up to 25 pounds. The employee must demonstrate lifting a 25-pound box from the floor.
  • All associates receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable. Medical and religious exemptions may apply.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the completion of and ensuring the staff schedule is correct.
  • Assists department manager in the monitoring of Quality Indicator Reports. Assists with employee and patient complaints in the absence of the Department Manager.
  • Assists with training of new hires.
  • Assists, when necessary, with other pre-registration workload.
  • Attends required meetings.
  • Completes preadmissions as far in advance as possible (department standard is not less than three days prior to services; exception is last minute add-ons). Facilitates proactive leadership.
  • Maintains and meets expectations on time for all competencies, license, certifications and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health (AH), The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and all other regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains good communication with physician offices to obtain information necessary to complete the preadmissions.
  • Provides Admitting-PBX staff relief during breaks, lunch, vacation and sick-disability leave.
  • Provides coverage and-or assistance when necessary to maintain quality standards of the department.
  • Provides Outpatient Surgery Center or Outpatient Registration with the account paperwork prior to the day of service.
  • Reviews pre-admitted accounts post day of service to determine if patient was no show or procedure was canceled. Accounts still in a pre-admit status should be canceled, rescheduled, or converted to outpatient so billing may take place.
  • Verifies patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to admission; notifies patient of any financial responsibilities and arranges for payment.
  • Works closely with centralized and departmental scheduling to ensure timely receipt of all schedules.
  • Willingly performs other duties and innovations as assigned.
