About The Position

A Jefferson Health Patient Transport Lead oversees daily transport operations, coordinates patient movement, and manages staff to ensure efficient, safe, and timely patient transport across the hospital. They supervise teams of transporters, utilize systems like Epic to track requests, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with safety and infection control policies. Safely moves patients between inpatient rooms, emergency, radiology, and other departments, often assisting with bed-to-wheelchair/stretcher transfers.

Responsibilities

• Patient Transport & Transfer: Safely move patients between inpatient rooms, emergency, radiology, and other departments, often assisting with bed-to-wheelchair/stretcher transfers.
• Safety & Communication: Monitor patients during transport for, and report, any adverse changes in condition. Communicate arrivals/departures to nursing staff.
• Compliance: Adhere to infection control, isolation policies, and safety standards.
• Operational Leadership: Manages daily operations and workflows of the transport team, improving efficiency and reducing turn-around times.
• Staff Management: Supervises, mentors, and assists with hiring and training transport staff.
• Coordination & Workflow: Coordinates patient transport with nursing and medical staff for testing, procedures, and discharges.
• Safety & Quality Assurance: Ensures adherence to infection control, safety procedures (PPE, OSHA), and monitors patient identification.
• Technology Utilization: Uses Epic or similar software to manage transport requests and monitor performance data.
• Equipment Management: Monitors the maintenance, cleaning, and tracking of transportation equipment (stretchers, wheelchairs).
