About The Position

COLLECTIF Engineering is a New York City-based MEP design and consulting firm specializing in fully coordinated, code-compliant engineering solutions from conceptual design through construction completion. Our practice integrates advanced building technologies to deliver high-performance mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEP/FP) systems across a diverse range of sectors, including residential, hospitality, wellness, commercial, corporate, and public projects. We collaborate closely with leading architects, developers, and construction teams to ensure seamless system integration, constructability, and long-term operational efficiency. Position Overview: We are currently seeking an experienced Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer to design and implement plumbing and fire protection systems. As a Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer, you will operate with various departments to develop all construction and electrical specifications for all plumbing projects. This role requires technical proficiency, rigorous attention to code compliance, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (required)
  • Minimum 2 years of direct experience in plumbing and fire protection design
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., Elite, HydraCALC, HASS)
  • In-depth knowledge of plumbing and fire protection design, corresponding terminology, and general knowledge of MEP design.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-project environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with high-rise residential, hospitality, or public/institutional projects strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with NYC building codes and design regulations (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Design plumbing and fire protection systems for new and existing buildings
  • Conduct field surveys and assess existing systems
  • Perform engineering calculations and equipment sizing
  • Develop coordinated drawings and models in Revit and AutoCAD
  • Research and apply relevant codes and standards
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation
  • Attend project meetings and collaborate across disciplines
  • Support construction administration efforts, including shop drawing reviews and site coordination
