About The Position

At UnitedHealthcare, we’re simplifying the health care experience, creating healthier communities and removing barriers to quality care. The work you do here impacts the lives of millions of people for the better. Come build the health care system of tomorrow, making it more responsive, affordable and optimized. Ready to make a difference? Join us to start Caring. Connecting. Growing together Our mission is to make consumer data trustworthy, reliable, and usable at scale. Within the Experience Data Platform, Identity & Privacy capabilities are foundational - ensuring fragmented data can be accurately resolved, governed, and safely activated across marketing, analytics and AI use cases. This role is central to building and operating those foundations so teams can confidently rely on data in regulated healthcare environments. Reporting to the Director of Identity & Privacy, this role owns one or more core identity product domains end to end, advancing the capabilities that determine how consumer data is ingested, interpreted, matched, governed, and protected across the platform. Partnering closely with Identity & Privacy engineering and data teams, the focus is on the design, evolution, and operational integrity of identity systems - including resolution and matching logic, consolidation rules, verification signals, consent enforcement, and privacy controls - rather than surface level features. The role defines identity strategy and roadmaps, leads deep discovery, translates regulatory and business requirements into enforceable system behavior, and ensures identity decisions are measurable, auditable, compliant, and trusted, with success measured by data quality, adoption, trust, and regulatory compliance. This role requires deep comfort operating in complex identity and data ecosystems - where decisions have downstream implications for regulatory compliance, consumer trust, analytics accuracy, and AI readiness. While product management skills are required, this is fundamentally an identity and data leadership role, partnering closely with Engineering, Architecture, Legal/Privacy, Security, and platform stakeholders to drive clear decisions in ambiguous, high impact problem spaces. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of demonstrated Identity Product Owner experience in Agile/Scrum (or equivalent), including end-to-end delivery, backlog ownership, and sprint planning in complex environments
  • Hands-on experience with modern cloud data and analytics platforms (e.g., Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, Power BI/Tableau, SQL, Adobe Experience Platform)
  • Experience with identity and privacy capabilities such as identity graphs/MDM, matching and deduplication, identity resolution, consent management, and privacy controls
  • Demonstrated experience building and managing roadmaps for identity, privacy, or data platform capabilities, including discovery through delivery
  • Demonstrated experience translating stakeholder needs and policy or regulatory requirements into epics, user stories, and clear acceptance criteria
  • Demonstrated experience partnering across Architecture, Engineering, and business stakeholders, plus Legal/Privacy and Security, to deliver compliant platform capabilities
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating cross-domain dependencies and execution while maintaining alignment to platform priorities and risk controls
  • Working knowledge of data centric identity resolution and privacy concepts - including person level matching, identity graphing, consolidation, survivorship, and consent management - focused on building and governing a unified customer profile across disparate data sources, rather than authentication, access management, or login technologies (e.g., SSO, OAuth, website authentication, customer login flows). Note: Experience limited to customer authentication, login systems, or access management (e.g., SSO, OAuth, IAM platforms) without hands on work in identity data and customer profile management is not a fit for this role
  • Demonstrated solid analytical and problem-solving skills, using data and metrics to assess performance, diagnose issues, and inform decisions
  • Demonstrated solid written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to drive alignment across technical and non-technical teams and deliver executive-ready updates
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities while maintaining delivery focus and accountability

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience serving as Product Owner for an embedded engineering pod (or equivalent), driving prioritization and managing delivery trade-offs
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale consumer data platforms and data domains (e.g., ingestion, transformation, publishing)
  • Experience analyzing and synthesizing quantitative and qualitative inputs to inform roadmap priorities, identify risks/opportunities, and recommend actions
  • Experience using product and delivery tooling (e.g., Aha!, Rally, or similar) to manage work, dependencies, and delivery reporting
  • Experience mentoring and coaching other product managers and/or influencing product practices across a team
  • Familiarity leveraging AI-enabled tools to accelerate analysis, reporting, and/or product workflow (e.g., automated insights, anomaly detection, AI-assisted documentation)

Responsibilities

  • Drive delivery of data centric identity and privacy capabilities, including person level matching, identity resolution, consolidation, survivorship, verification, and consent management, to enable a trusted, governed 360 degree customer profile across the Experience Data Platform
  • Own and evolve one or more identity and privacy product areas focused on the underlying customer identity data, ensuring accurate interpretation, linkage, and governance of demographic, behavioral, and transactional attributes across disparate source systems
  • Define and maintain product roadmaps for identity resolution and privacy capabilities, ensuring alignment with data quality standards, lineage and metadata requirements, regulatory compliance, and enterprise data strategy
  • Lead discovery with business, analytics, and platform stakeholders to understand identity data use cases, regulatory constraints, and downstream impacts; translate insights into scalable identity resolution and privacy solutions
  • Serve as Product Owner for one or more Identity & Privacy engineering pods, owning the backlog and sprint planning for capabilities related to identity matching, consolidation, consent enforcement, and governed data access - not authentication or access management systems
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Architecture, Legal/Privacy, and Security to ensure identity resolution solutions are technically sound, compliant, auditable, and aligned to enterprise data governance principles
  • Write and refine epics, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria that clearly articulate identity data requirements, including auditability, traceability, and survivorship rules across identity attributes and sources
  • Track and optimize adoption, performance, data quality, and compliance metrics for identity resolution and privacy capabilities, using insights to drive continuous improvement of customer identity health
  • Apply automation and AI/ML where appropriate to improve identity matching accuracy, anomaly detection, consent enforcement, and ongoing monitoring of identity data quality and risk
  • Represent Identity & Privacy in intake, discovery, and cross platform planning forums, ensuring identity data requirements are understood and addressed early in solution design - distinct from customer authentication or login experiences
  • Communicate identity product vision, roadmap progress, risks, and outcomes to leadership and stakeholders in a clear, executive ready manner, with emphasis on trusted customer data enablement
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in identity resolution as a data discipline, mentoring others on best practices for building and governing unified customer profiles in complex enterprise environments
  • Perform other duties as assigned
